GHOREPANI-PUNHILL TREK

  • This famous trek at the foot of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massif is a magnificent trek, short and fairly easy without exceeding a maximum altitude of 3000 m. It is also a fairly busy and alternative trek to the round Annapurna  tour. You would cross villages of ethnic Magar, Gurung and Brahmin located in steep slopes, breathtaking landscapes, rice fields upstairs on dense forest of rhododendron in multicolored flowers, the high mountains more famous Machhapuchhre one of the most beautiful peaks of Nepal and sacred because it is considered by the Hindus as the abode of Shiva. Splendid views of two 8000m of the highest peaks in the world, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri from the Punhill viewpoint.

    A fairly easy trek without exceeding a maximum altitude of 3000m. Magnificent view of the peaks of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Annapurna both above 8000m. There are many choice of travel options as these two cities are well connected by both road networks as well as air connectivity.

  • DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

    DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KATMANDOU (1350 M).
    Arrival in Kathmandu Airport, reception and transfer to the Hotel. Briefing and presentation of the program and  installation in the rooms. If you arrive in the morning, rest day or possibility of visiting the Stupa of Swoyambhunath. – Transfers and guide included.
    – Night at the hotel – Lunch and dinner included.

    DAY 2: VISIT KATMANDOU

    Early breakfast at your Hotel and then transfer to Baudhanath, a district inhabited mainly by Buddhists, Tibetans and Nepalese. Maisonettes and monasteries surround the largest stupa in Nepal. Visit the Buddhist monasteries then transfer to the Pashupatinath temple, located 1 km south of Baudhanath, the sacred place of the Hindus, its sadhus, cremations sites along the Bagamati river. Transfer to Basantapur Durbar Square the former capital of King Malla for lunch. After lunch, we will visit the old palace of Kathmandu, the temple of Taleju which opens only once a year, the temple of Jaganath – quite artistic, the statue of Kaal Bhairab- god of justice with his fierce image and then why not bless by the living goddess of the capital – the Kumari. Visit this UNESCO World Heritage city and then be guided to your hotel on foot through the Indra Chowk and Ason Tole market. – Guide, transfers and entrance fees included. – Night at the hotel – Breakfast included.     DAY 3: KATMANDOU (1,300 M) – MUGLING- POKHARA (828 M).

    Transfer by / Tourist Bus / Coach / Jeep (depending on the number of participants) to Pokhara, the second largest tourist city in Nepal located 200km west of Kathmandu. This hectic route due to the state of the road will give you the opportunity to follow the Trisuli River, which has its source in Langtang and Gosaikund. You will enjoy the magnificent landscapes of rice fields and the view of the Manaslu, Ganesh and Annapurna mountains. Arrival in Pokhara, Lake Side district, bordering Lake Phewa and viewpoint on the Annapurna range.

    – 6h journey by Bus / Coach or Jeep
    – Night at the hotel – Breakfast, lunch en route and dinner included.

    DAY 4: POKHARA (828 M) – NAYAPUL (1070M) – HILE (1460M) – TIKHEDHUNGGA (1520 M).
    Breakfast at the hotel then transfer to Nayapul 40 km away and around 1 hour drive. Today is your first day of walking, you will cross several small Nepalese villages, first Nayapul then Birethati before continuing along the left bank of the Bhurungdi khola river. In autumn, the terraced corn and rice fields are magnificent. Arrival at Tikhedungga.

    – 5 hours of walking – Elevation: +580 m

    DAY 5: TIKHEDHUNGA (1,520 M) – BANTHANTI (2,210 M) – GHOREPANI (2,860 M).

    Second day of trek, start with a steep climb with stone steps to the village of Ulleri (2020m), mainly inhabited by Gurungs. During the climb, you can clearly see the summits of Annapurna South (7,219m) and Hiunchuli. We will arrive in Banthanti (2210m) for a short break for Nepalese tea in a Tea shop. We will continue crossing the fields, crops and forest of rhododendrons and oak before arriving at Nanggae Thanti the place for lunch. We will spend around three quarters of an hour on site to order the meal and it is also an opportunity to find all your team including the porters who carry your luggage until the end of the trek. This is it, you will enjoy finding your precious luggage and your trekking porters. This is also the best time to socialize with your Nepalese team by offering them cookies or drinks. For those who wish to understand the local language, that is to say learning “Nepali” the best method is to communicate with your carriers during the trek because the majorities only speak Nepali. The stage between Banthanti and Ghorépani crosses a forest of giant rhododendrons with a height of 50 meters! Spring is the flowering season of this tree whose flower is one of the national emblems of Nepal. It was the halt of caravans coming from Tibet before the path through Baglung was opened.

    DAY 6: GHOREPANI (2,860 M) – POONHILL (3,210 M) – TADAPANI (2,630 M).
    Early in the morning, climb to Poon Hill to admire the sunrise over the Annapurna, the Dhaulagiri. Poon Hill is the highest point of your trek. Some group photos for the memory of this splendid then descend to the lodge for breakfast. Departure for Tadapani via the Deurali pass, very nice view of the chain and Banthanti before descending into a thick forest of giant rhododendrons, cross the Bhurungdi Khola and go up to Tadapani.

    – Elevation: +550 m, -750 m

    DAY 7: TADAPANI (2,630 M) – GHANDRUNG (1,940 M) – LANDRUNG (1,565 M).
    Breakfast then departure to Ghandrung, the largest and most beautiful village in the region. It is a village mainly inhabited by the Gurung ethnic groups (famous Gurkha soldier in the English regiment) with some Chhetri houses. After visiting the Gurung ethnic museum, we continue towards Modi Khola by a steep descent to the Modi Khola bridge to see the hive of wild bees in a crest and then gradually climb towards the village of Landrung.

    DAY 8: LANDRUNG (1,565 M) -PRITAM DEURALI (2,100M) – AUSTRALIAN CAMP (2,060M).

    The balcony path in terraced crops, passes through Tolka before a gradual climb to Pritam Deurali. Magnificent view of Annapurna and other snow-capped peaks, then downhill to Pothana. Walk in the forest going up to Australian Camp. Small plateau on the edge of a forest. From there the sunsets and sunrises on the high

    snow-capped peaks are exceptional. Panorama of the peaks of Machhapuchhare (6,993 m), Annapurna III (7,855 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m) and Annapurna IV (7,525 m). Last evening meal with our friends friends. – Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

    – 5.5 hours of walking
    – Elevation: +535 m, – 150m. DAY 9:

    AUSTRALIAN CAMP (2100M) – KANDE (1770 M) – POKHARA (915 M).

    Last day of walking. Today, you will leave the mountain, its welcoming villages and populations and start the day with a staircase descent to Kandé. We leave our porters and transfer to Pokhara. Free afternoon, you can walk around Lake Phewa, on foot, by bike or by boat or even enjoy good Ayurvedic massages, restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops. – Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. – Night at the hotel – 2 hours of walking – Elevation: -330 m

    DAY 10: POKHARA – MALEKHU – NAUBISE – KATHMANDU.
    Breakfast, then drive to the capital. This route will allow you to discover the Pokhara valley: crossing landscapes with multiple rice fields and other cultivated fields. You will enjoy local life along the road and the Trishuli River! A short stop for lunch in Malekhu, then continuation to Kathmandu. Arrival and installation at the hotel. About 5 to 7 hours drive. Free afternoon, rest or the possibility of visiting the tourist district of Thamel Kathésimbu without a guide, also called Mini Swoyambhunath is highly recommended.

    DAY 11: DAY IN KATMANDOU.

    Free day in Kathmandu. Opportunity to visit Patan Palace and Golden Temple. Farewell Diner by the Agency.

    According to return flight schedules, transfer to the airport for your final departure.
